Why Infants NEED Sleep!

It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that during sleep is when the body is able to heal things that it normally would not be able to when you are awake.

For example, when you are sick or under the weather, the only thing that you want to do is sleep, this is true, because that is when your body is able to solely focus on healing you.

The same idea goes towards infants, they need to sleep in order to grow and mature into an older form.

Sleep is something that takes up over seventy percent of their childhood, this is because it allows time for the bones to grow, the brain to learn how to function properly and the heart to fully develop.

As adults, it is easy for us to think that the child is sleeping too much and it is a sign that something is wrong, it is important to try to understand that sleep for a child, just like a sick person, or a puppy, that we need that time during that period of our lives to ensure that we are getting the proper amount of sleep to grow into the correct form that we need to be in.

Sleep is the time of the day that our minds, bodies and souls get to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, even though it may not seem like a baby does much to need that much sleep, they actually require more sleep than the mother, who just gave birth.

As weird as this may sound, it is because as a child, they do not understand what it is like to do anything other than eat and sleep, because that is all they have known for the first nine months of their existence when they were inside of the mother’s womb.

While, this may seem strange to some parents it is actually not normal for a baby to say awake all of the time, if this is something that your child is doing, it should not be over looked or ignored, in fact, you should talk to your child’s doctor if your baby is not getting the proper amount of sleep.

It could be an early sign that something is not functioning properly in the child’s mind or that there is a heath issue when it comes to why the child is unable to gain a full needed amount of rest in a twenty four hour time frame.

We try to be good parents by looking at our routines to judge if everything is correct with our children, but it is important to remember that during the first few years of your children’s lives, they are going to require more sleep than the average adult human does.

No, there is nothing wrong with them and there is no need to start panicking, they are craving sleep in order to become functional adults, not allowing them to sleep during this time frame is actually going to hurt them in the long run and is not recommended .
